I was a little more active in the Mark’s Daily Apple Forum today than I have been in the past. I thoroughly enjoy participating in such a wonderful primal community and the forum at MDA is one of the best places to do that. One of the topics I came across today really got my attention…
Just for Fun – If you could only live on 10 foods
I enjoyed reading through what everyone else came up with, and then of course I added my own list. It was difficult to do but I came up with the following 10.
- Avocado
- Collared Greens
- Salmon
- Eggs
- Raspberries
- Coconut
- Cow
- Asparagus
- Chocolate
- Pig
It seems as if I could easily live off of these foods for the rest of my life. I am by no means going to, but I may eat the above 10 foods without anything else during a one week period down the road as an experiment. It would be simple, a lot of fun, and it seems as if I would be getting just about all the nutrition I need. I, without a doubt, would be consuming enough protein, fat, and carbs… the above 10 foods seem legit for all the vitamins and minerals and certainly a host of antioxidants. Eating only 10 foods makes life simple too.
I added wild boar at the end because I am a huge fan of Lost. And, sadly there is only 3 more hours of new episodes left for the entire series! I have never had wild boar, but I am sure I would like it. The Losties hunted down wild boar as their main meat, gathered fresh mango and a few other fruits, and caught wild fish from the ocean. I would love that lifestyle!
What Does Your List Consist Of?
I want you to think of your 10 foods that you would live on. Tell the world by leaving a comment below.
I may edit my list if I think of a few other items that I forgot about. Asparagus just came to mind as a nutritious vegetable alongside broccoli and brussel sprouts. If I was not a Lost fan I would choose one of those veggies in place of wild boar.
So, please contribute to the primal community, even if you are not primal, and tell us all your 10 foods! I am going to market this post a lot over the next month or so. I want at least 300 comments within a few months. Let’s do this! Spread the word people!
This post has been shared at Fight Back Friday at Food Renegade and Real Food Wednesday Blog Carnival

10. Original Pringles
9. Rib-eye beef
8. Egg Rolls
7. Asparagus
6. Spicy Tuna Rolls
5. Bread
4. Peanut Butter Capn’ Crunch
3. Butternut Squash
2. Pad Thai
1. Naan & Hummus
Solid list for someone who is not at all primal…
Egg rolls… why not just a hard-boiled egg dipped in salsa or with some avocado?
Because they’re not deep fried…..duh. I could do a scotch egg.
http://sorrydadenglandisweird.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/scotchegg.jpeg
Hmmmmm…….
Holy Groks!!! I MUST make a primal-friendly recipe for this!! *drools*
That does look quite amazing. Nothing better than sausage and eggs for breakfast… no, wait… eggs and….
BACON!
I would have to say my list, in no particular order would be:
Eggs
Chicken
Cheese
Milk
Berries
Sweet potatoes
Lettuce
Apples
Oranges
Chocolate
Filet mignon
Shrimps
Garlic
Well, I think my list is getting a bit long… I love food!
Nice! I forgot about sweet potatoes! While I don’t eat them often, I love them to death and they are an excellent source of carbs when you need a little extra.
1. Eel
2. Hamachi Kama (Neck/cheek of Hamachi)
3. Salmon Belly
4. Spaghetti Squash
5. Spinach
6. Pumpkin &/or Butternut Squash
7. Eggs
8. Ground Grass-fed Beef &/or Ostrich
9. Sea Vegetables
10. Green Beans
That sure is one healthy list! I have been wanting to try sea veggies… what are your favorite?
Oh man, sea vegetables! I eat NORI almost every day, I wrap it around everything! Oh and I also really love konbu & kelp! I sometimes use them to substitute “noodles” in recipes which is pretty great!
You have convinced me to try it in the near future. I know sunfood.com sells it. I will have to try some!
1. Pig
2. Eggs
3. Chicken (well, need them for the eggs anyway)
4. Cabbage
5. Spring Onions /Scallions!
6. Mushrooms
7. Blackberries
8. Banana (or maybe rhubarb)
9. Chocolate
10.Almonds (hazelnuts close but less versatile)
Tried to think about some balance to the list. Butter, cheese and double cream are big parts of my diet but all had to go in the realistic chop.
Love the list! Primal approved, lol.
Rhubarb… what do you use it for? I’ve seen it at the fulton st. farmers market but have not purchased it yet.
Only use the stalks – the leaves will make you sick.
Eat raw dipped in sugar (Rhubarb is very tart)
Drizzle with honey and bake in the oven… eat with real ice-cream.
Stew it in a pan with honey and ginger to put in a tart (pie) or more primal – a crumble (top with chopped nuts /butter mix and bake).
It’s awesome
Wow! That sounds wonderful! I may have to buy some this Saturday! If not, I will soon without a doubt – Thanks dude!
Great post, Toad! Got me thinking.
1. Chocolate
2. Apples
3. Bananna
4. Eggs
5. Beef
6. Pork
7. Chicken
8. Fish
9. Nuts
Leaving the tenth open so I can be a proper guest and try everything I’m ever offered.
Love the list! You say nuts, yea? There are TONS of nuts – pick 1!
Love the courtesy.
That’s the way I felt when I saw beef on your list, so I thought nuts were fair game. Almonds, if I have to choose.
Fair enough
In no particular order…
1) Avocados
Red Wine
2) Tomatoes
3) Almonds
4) Raspberries
5) Ahi Tuna
6) Egg whites
7) Hummus
9) Dark Chocolate
10) Cheddar Cheese
Lets eat!
The most specific list yet… CHEDDAR cheese…. Egg WHITES, RASPberries, DARK chocolate… I like it!
Hmmm… you are not primal (pretty close
yet all 10 foods are primal approved! Just eat the cheddar cheese raw if possible
Let me ask you… did you try to make your list “primal?” or did it just come out as “primal”?
Thanks sis!
great post – not sure what qualifies as primal, but here are the 10 in order
1. red wine
2. parmesan cheese
3. butter
4. popcorn
5. garlic
6. baby field greens
7. blueberries
8. tuna
9.chickpeas
10.lemons
Solid list… Popcorn and chickpeas are NOT primal, red wine is in moderation (1 glass a day), parmesan cheese is primal if the person can digest properly (not many – I enjoy as a flavoring in moderation).
But you can still be primal and enjoy things like popcorn and chickpeas. That’s where the 80/20 rules comes in which I will be doing a post on soon…
Hi there and a belated Happy Birthday!
1. Seafood
2. Kohlrabi
3. Beef
4. Pork
5. Eggs
6. Almonds

1 Chicken
2 Beef
3 Pork
4 Coconut
5 Dark chocolate
6 Cream
7 Sweet potato
8 Pineapples
9 Eggs
10 Coffee
Coffee… I will take Green Tea!
1. chips
2. peanut butter
3. light rye bread
4. eggs
5. tomatoes
6. red wine
7. steak
8. marble cheese
9. pasta
10. pineapple
Marble cheese…. I’ve never had this kind…what flavoring is it? Rye bread… I LOVED rye bread back when I ate grains
enlighten me – what make chickpeas (garbanzo beans) and popcorn unprimal?
Popcorn is made from corn. Corn is a grain. If you are primal then you avoid ALL grains. This includes WHOLE grains.
Chickpeas are a legume, which are avoided as well. I eat legumes every once in a great while. But, I haven’t had grains in over a month. I thought it would be hard a few months ago but it has actually been a breeze. I enjoy my food more now.
And you will notice that not many people listed any grain items. Most of these people are NOT primal… This list is about picking 10 foods that you would survive on…
How interested are you in going Primal? Maybe not at all? Lol.
In no particular order:
Beef jerky using the 96/4 ground beef (no spices, herbs, etc. Just dried meat)
Eggs
Bacon
Ribeye steak cooked over mesquite
White Mountain Foods whole-milk yogurt
Butter
Beef tallow
The occasional black grape
The occasional blueberry
The occasional bite of blue cheese, brie, camembert, and other “moldy” cheeses
Possibly my favorite list to date… All animal foods with occasional berries. But, what about a highly nutritious and tasty veggie like broccoli, brussel sprouts, or asparagus?!
You seem to be quite primal/paleo… are you?
1. Broccoli
2. Bread
3. Avocado
4. Hummus
5. Grapefruit
6. Peaches
7. Sweet Potatoes
8. Beef
9. Hazelnuts
10. Goat Cheese
This was quite a challenge Toad! But, I managed…. and it was a blast coming up with 10 foods!! I’ll spread the word for ya.
-Mom
Thanks mother! The list is just about primal – many things are foods to eat in moderation. But, again no grains!! Great job!
Toad,
Last time I checked (2.) Bread was in the ‘Grains’ list. Since when did that change?
Oops! I must have missed that word. Bread is a grain – I just made a mistake!
1. Bananas
2. Blueberries
3. Oranges
4. Walnuts
5. Salmon
6. Milk
7. Spinach
8. Turkey
9. Beef
10. Broccoli
Thanks for the list Dad!
It is primal approved – just make sure you are able to digest the milk!
No Particular Order. Just tried to think about what I eat regularly:
1 Eggs
2 Heavy Cream
3 Bacon
4 Beef
5 Coconut (I mostly use coconut oil)
6 85% Dark Chocolate (or Cacao Nibs)
7 Sweet Potato
8 Clementines
9 Walnuts
10 Spinach
This was hard. But contains most of what I eator like to eat. I also love Kim Chee (kim chi), but I don’t know how to make it, so I don’t eat it as much as I’d like. Spinach fried in bacon fat is a good second, though.
Love the list. If I could choose 20 foods, I may add clementines on there. I love those things, but haven’t enjoyed one in a while.
Great challenge! In no particular order, my list would include:
1-Avocado
2-Dark chocolate
3-Steak (or any beef)
4-Eggs
5-Bacon
6-Butter
7-Macadamia Nuts
8-Berries
9-Seafood (shrimp if I had to pick only one)
10-Red peppers
Pretty much sums up what the inside of my fridge looks like!
Love the list – it was hard for me to choose between macadamia nuts and almonds… I may switch it soon, lol.
1 – Eggs
2 – Bacon
3 – Berries
4 – Nuts (Almonds, Walnut, Macadamia)
5 – Bell Peppers
6 – Yam
7 – Heavy Cream
8 – Avocado – especially as guacamole!
9 – Salmon
10 – Dark Chocolate Chips
Love the list. And, you gave me a quick reminder about guacamole… I need to make me some soon!
here is twelve- I never played by the rules:
Farm eggs
Goat cheese
Raw milk
Grass fed beef
Avocados
Tomatoes
Salmon
Walnuts
Seasonal fruit- apples, blueberries, strawberries when in season
Grass fed Butter
Coconut for oil and water
Guinness in bottles. I can reuse the bottles.
Tis doesn’t leave much pantry items to cook with- Onions, garlic pepper sea salt, etc I’d like to pickle and fermant- so thankfully we don’t have to do 10.
You picked 12, but you could have chosen between raw milk and goat cheese and you could have discarded the guiness in bottles
Hmmmm….10 foods I couldn’t live with out
1. Dark Chocolate (the darker the better)
2. Red Wine
3. Eggs
4. Kale
5. Salmon
6. Filet Mignon
7. Sweet Potatoes
8. Nuts ( I can’t choose, I love them all)
9. Avocados
10. Asparagus with Shallots (it has to be both)
I’ve been eating a lot of avocados lately – would eat one everyday if they weren’t high on Omega 6. Love the choice of Filet Mignon
10. Pistachios (other nuts too… roasted almonds, walnuts, hazlenuts, black walnuts)
9. Carnitas
8. Espresso (ok this is my NEW love)
7. Butter
6. Heavy Cream
5. Avocados
4. Egg Yolks (have never, ever liked the whites much)
3. Dark Bittersweet Chocolate (70% or higher)
2. Bacon Bacon Bacon
1. Filet Mignon (also, Ribeyes, Carne Asada)
That was really hard! Not too many veggies made it… oh well. I still LOVE peanut butter, I just can’t help it.
TrailGrrl
Yes, it is very tough getting it down to 10 foods – but most of us can manage. I love #1 and #2 – possibly the best yet
1. Beef
2. Tilapia
3. Chicken
4. Broccoli
5. Potatoes
6. Blackberries
7. Eggs
8. Bacon
9. Ice Cream
10. Oatmeal
Close to primal but you stumbled on the last one – oatmeal. You mean homemade ice cream with coconut milk, right? That is no doubt primal.
This should be fun:
10. raw milk (can make all sorts of things from it)
9. pork
8. melons, especially watermelons
7. tomatoes
6. grass fed beef
5. country eggs
4. cabbage
3. winter squash, especially pumpkin
2. cucumbers
1. coffee (sorry, not primal, but I do heart coffee)
.-= Paula´s last blog ..To blog or not to blog =-.
One of my favorite lists – definitely primal. While coffee isn’t totally primal, Mark approves in moderation.
Banana
Avocado
Raspberries
Cheddar cheese
Gouda cheese
Eggs
Yogurt
Chocolate
Onion & Garlic
Basmati rice
Great list! Not totally primal – but still a decent list. You have eggs but no meat… are you a vegetarian or close to it?
1. apples
2. brocolli
3. tomatoes
4. cucumbers
5. pollock fish w/o batter
6. home made ice cream
7. farmer’s market eggs
8. assorted berries
9. bananas
10. oranges
Awesome list! I love the fact that you put “farmers market” eggs… I refuse to buy conventional eggs anymore. I typically buy organic, but will be buying true pastured eggs from local farms more often now.
my list is:
1 beef – especially heart and liver
2 eggs
3 raw cheese
4 butter
5 chocolate
6 cherries
7 tomatoes
8 duck
9 peppers
10 pasta
I am not primal because I can’t live without pasta – I tried but i was constantly hungry and besides pasta is my delivery system for milk products and meat:) still i include 80% animal products when i cook pasta – but they still have to be there!
Duck! I have never tried duck but want to badly!!
You CAN live without pasta – you just have not tried hard enough!!! I used to love pasta… now thats history
if you love fat, then you will sure love duck meat for sure! you should also try goose meat – as fatty as duck.
i have read that you managed to survive without pasta and i admire you for that, but after a lifetime of being vegetarian – because i didn’t think meat or milk products could be so delicious- I got to be very moderate now and i try to include as many food types as possible. Besides each person has different requirements in terms of certain nutrients – if i feel good eating pasta while it has no artificial preservatives, I think my body needs it no matter what i read. I made this mistake already when i was younger limiting my intake of eggs to 2-3/week when i feel so good eating them! I think eating a variety of foods is the safest option to include as many nutrients as possible and to limit anything dangerous from overwhelming my diet:)
You know that the koala bear is almost extinct because it eats only eucalyptus leaves – compare it with the rat that will eat anything!
I am aware of the fact that grains do not contain any major nutrient – but I refuse to base my diet on any nutrition “science”.
nice blog! I forgot to congratulate you in my first comment:)
Thanks for the feedback! If you wanna eat pasta then go ahead and be my guest
I am not a fan of studies either… but we are talking about a diet that people ate for thousands of years – grains are just too new to us.
Hi again!
This is embarassing, but I gave up all grains for a week and you were right. I really feel much better without pasta – first of all, I do not feel that urge to eat each hour and secondly, I now have more space in my stomach for greens:d The bad part is that I lost some weight – when I didn’t need this, but still life is beautiful without grains:) Do you eat milk products?
Hey! Did you ditch the grains because of something you read on this blog? If so then thats great!! Kudos to you!
Losing weight is not a surprise. I lost a little weight too. You probably need more fat in your diet and/or more protein. I do NOT eat dairy. Only once in a while I will add some cheese to foods but I prefer raw cheese and wish to try raw milk.
I think I told you before, but I love your blog!!!
I never liked milk products until I made them myself out of raw milk:)
The reason I quit grains is because I did some blood tests of my blood sugar but also of HbA1c – which is that percent of the total hemoglobin that is crosslinked with sugar. Although the blood sugar was fine as usual, the HbA1c was borderline high and if there is one phobia I got that is diabetes:) So I removed pasta and I eat fruits and honey very rarely. I can’t blame it on sweets because I didn’t have any in 2 years.
As about fat and protein, I am mad about fatty meat and butter, I have my days when I eat one whole brain fried in butter:)- I have been sticky thin no matter what I ate , even when I ate McDonalds every day.
I ditched grains something like 5 years ago because I realized I was having an allergic reaction, kind of like hives on the roof of my mouth. So I just quit all grains, have been low carb, then vlc, for the past 2 years I have been meat and water, with a bit of cream in the coffee. Can’t seem to drop the last 15 or so pounds. My heaviest was 175, am currently 130 but would like to get to 115. I am female, 59 years, 5′ tall. Also trying to bring triglycerides down under 100, they insist on being around 125, LDL cholesterol is predominately big fluffy. I had a VAP test. Generally my macronutrient ratio is <5% carb, 30% protein, 65% fat.
Do realize that while it is best to lose weight while eating a lower amount of carbohydrates compared to a typical american, eating only a few grams of carbs for more than just a few weeks may not be the best idea either. If you feel FANTASTIC by eating only a few grams of carbs then great. You must listen to yourself. And, look past just diet. What do you do for exercise? Do you sleep well every night and wake up refreshed and ready to start the day? How are your stress levels? Its important to not over look all the other factors that do effect how many calories you take in and burn as well.
I would love to help you 1 on 1 and see if I can help you further if you e-mail me. Todd @ gmail . com (no spaces). I hope this helps!
Here is my list (not necessarily in this order) :
1. Beef
2. Pig
3. Eggs
4. Mackerel
5. Salmon
6. Berries
7. Raisins.
8. Mixed salad
9. Butter
10. Little processed meats (Bacon, merguez, etc.)
I LOVE meat. I like fruits. I enjoy vegetables. ahah.
I love meat to buddy. Who doesn’t Ok, there are a lot of people but they don’t make sense to me…
Raisins made the list – first time for any list. I think you cheated with mixed salad – that’s a lot of different foods…
You are right I kind of cheated.
If I had to pick only one it would be red leaf lettuce that is is locally grown.
1) Organic Eggs
All Berries
2) Organic Heavy Cream
3) Dark Chocolate
4) Any White Fish
5) Almond Butter
6) Organic Butter
7) Macadamia Nuts
9) Fillet
10) Asparagus
This is one of my favorite lists – possibly right behind my own
You are kind of cheating by saying “all berries”, but I will let it slide…
I am becoming more of a fan of macadamia nuts too – they are great in smoothies!
1) Ribeye steak
Spinach (wilted in butter with nutmeg…mmm)
2) Asparagus
3) Chocolate (dark dark)
4) Bacon
5) eggs in any form
6) Cream
7) Zucchini
9) Roasted chicken
10) Butter…..technically, if the list was just one thing…butter would probably be it tight competition with the ribeye
Apparently the number eight+) = smiley face with glasses…..did not know that.
Ribeye steak… I am going to have to try one of them this week! I picked up my 100% grass fed cow on Friday and enjoyed some ground beef thus far. Steaks will be grilled this week
Spinach wilted in butter with nutmeg? I will have to try that!
The spinach is SO easy….baby spinach works best, just melt the butter in a med heat pan, add spinach, toss for about 30-60 seconds (it wilts quick), grate nutmeg over the top.
If you have not tried cooking your steaks in a cast iron skillet, I HIGHLY recommend it. Although it gets super smokey….so either have LOTS of windows open, or heat your grill up on super hot and use that to finish the steaks (just toss skillet and steak in there) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yX1Q3x9Cs4
I will have to try the spinach thing – thanks!
I do not own a cast iron skillet but am looking to buy one soon. As soon as I do I will be sure to try a steak in it
1. beef
2. pork
3. chicken
4. grapes
5. salmon
6. almonds
7. coconuts
8. eggs
9. extra sharp cheddar
10. lettuce
if eggs is redundant for chicken, then add broccoli.
are derivative foods allowed? like with pork can i make sausage, and with grapes can i make wine?
A note for those cooking their steaks in a cast iron skillet. try using coconut oil if you’re using butter or olive oil. olive oil has a very low smoke point compared to butter, and butter’s is very low compared to coconut oil. I use coconut oil in mine, and it’s not as smoky.
Love the list! That’s up to you for pork to make sausage and grapes to make wine… if you were stranded on an island you might have trouble finding the materials to do so though…
I cook everything with coconut oil – great tip. Well, if I have bacon in the morning then I will just cook my eggs in the bacon fat.
Chicken
watermellon
bananas
yellow bell peppers
almonds or pecans
coconut
honey
spinach
beef
eggs
butter
ginger
Ok I have 13, it was very difficult to choose just 10!!!
Mary
Lol. Yes, it is very difficult to choose just 10. I will be doing another one of these soon – they are a lot of fun and bring a lot of people to my blog.
Dang. 10??? Here goes:
Coffee
Milk (Raw, Goats)
Cheese (Raw, Goats)
Bacon
Chicken
Broccoli
Spinach
Macedamias
Salmon
And…..(drum roll please)…..Avocado
That was harder than I thought!
Yea, 10 is pretty tough!
Damnit… I think I skipped avocado from my list – I love the food.
1. Eggs
2. Tomatoes
3. Bacon
4. Berries
5. Chicken
6. Steak
7. Coconut Milk
8. Almonds
9. Chocolate (This is something I will never give up)
10. Sweet Potato (or Kumera as we call it in New Zealand)
You don’t have to give up Chocolate
It is FULL of antioxidants!! Just go for dark chocolate… I enjoy 100% cacao nibs and powder in my smoothies and various other things. I also enjoy dark chocolate chips and then a 100% cacao bar with a drizzle of honey on it.
Oh my gosh, only 10.
The coconut pancakes you had on the website a few weeks ago (amazing, btw)
Does a Smoothie constitute as a food?? That would be my #1.
2) Peanut Butter
3) Almond Butter
4) Greek yogurt
5) Bananas
6) Eggs
7) Cheese
9) Oatmeal
10) Almonds
Haha, a smoothie will work if you want it too
And, yes, the coconut pancakes are amazing. But, that would be a # of foods…
I may “redo” this post and allow for 20 or so foods. BUT, they would then have to be single food items making things like smoothies and coconut pancakes NOT count. I may run a competition if I do this and give away the primal blueprint cookbook… its a thought!
Love this question!
1. Spinach
2. Avocado
3. Strawberries (and raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries)
4. Salmon
5. Seared or raw sushi grade tuna
6. Coffee
7. Dark Chocolate
8. Summer tomatoes (I have a garden…won’t eat grocery store tomatoes)
9. Sweet potatoes
10. Red bell peppers
I love your list! I just had a good amount of sushi for the first time this past weekend while in Chicago. I HATED fish like my life depended on it for the first 21.5 years I lived on Earth. But, for the past 6 months or so I enjoy every fish thing i tried… sushi included! They were sushi rolls – tuna, salmon, etc. – all amazing!
Pig (bacon/pork belly/lard)
Lamb
Cow (bone marrow is addictive, and beef)
Onions (edible alliums generally)
Leafy greens (Do I have to choose just one? Dandelion, maybe…)
Broccoli (goes well with the onions)
Berries
Coffee
Butter/ghee
I could live without dark chocolate, but why would I want to?
One of my favorite lists! I think you are the first one to have lamb be on your list – nice choice!
I have never tried dandelion but will have to soon – thanks for the idea
Coffee
Steak
Crab
Apples
Broccolli
Tuna
Greek Yogurt
Raw Cabbage
Red Wine
Chocolate
Good night, This is really just a start to the list of my fav foods, I’d have to add, Almonds, Cheddar, Parm, pork rinds, BACON!
First time someone put crab on their list I believe… I just tried raw tuna last weekend and loved it. Sushi rolls are now a favorite food of mine! I didn’t even like any fish or seafood until 7 months ago… how about that!
Tuna is my absolute fav. White Tuna is the best sushi, tuna on my salad, tuna steaks with some wasabi aioli (drooling….) Or just some salt and pepper, seared drizzled with lemon and coconut.. OH or Peppercorn crusted with a rose wine sauce….
Yea, I can’t wait to have raw fish without a sushi roll so I can skip the ice. I think just some avocado on it in a mixed salad would be amazing.
1. Pork
2. Chicken/eggs
3. Beef
4. Fat
5. Seafood
6. Berries
7. Flax
8. Almonds
9. Green leafy veg
10. Vinegar
“4. Fat” <——- I LOVE IT!! By far the best response yet!

2. Coconut
3. Blueberries
4. Chicken
5. Bison
6. Brussel Sprouts
7. Asparagus
8. Salmon
9. Avocados
10. Tomatoes
Almond meal is interesting… Why not just almonds so you can enjoy whole almonds and then crush them up yourself for almond meal? Just a thought
Bison… yum!! I am going to make bison chili soon with grass fed ground beef, lol. Ver similar though…
Yeah I realized that after I hit the send button. Ha! I prefer to eat other nuts (macadamia, cashews) over almonds but find almond meal completely indispensable eating primal.
Fair enough
Its hard to pick between almond and macadamia nuts for me.
I LOVE FOOD! Here we go:)
1) Eggs
Spinach
2) Filet Mignon (rare)/Or any steak
3) Swiss Chard
4) Red Wine
5) Bacon
6) Broccoli

Can’t stop at 10— these I eat more occasionally but still love
11) Sweet Potatoes with nutmeg and real butter
12) Bananas
13) Apple and Almond Butter (mmm that sounds good–it’s been a long time)

Here’s my list:
1. Bacon
2. Eggs
3. Bananas
4. Avocados
5. Almonds
6. Berries (how can you pick just one kind?)
7. Tuna
8. Baby spinach
9. Peppers (any type but hot peppers especially)
10. Bourbon (not primal, but we all have our vices)
Bacon, Eggs… I think am going to have some of that for breakfast this morning!! And, yes… it is tough to pick just 1 berry… I chose one and then put the others in parenthesis, lol.
1. Grass-fed only meat
2. Salmon
3. Butter
3. Coconut oil
4. Avocado
5. Bacon
6. Berries
7. Asparagus
8. Water
9. Spinach
10. Eggs
I love the list… feel free too add one more since you have water in there. And, why not just coconut so you can have all forms?
Toad,
Thought I would check out the site…saw this post you were asking me about this weekend…so here you go.
10. Sushi (not rolls…served Sashimi)
9. Skinless Chicken Breasts
8. Steak (Preferebly a bone in rib-eye)
7. Grapes
6. Asparagus
5. Burritos (Only after 2:00am though)
4. Eggs – over easy or sunny side up
3. Bacon or Sausage
2. PIZZA!!!!!
1. ICE COLD BUDWEISER
Keep getting after it buddy.
Hey Kester,
I am loving the burritos only after 2 am… why is this so?
Ha, I knew you would put pizza and budweiser on there. Good to see you throw in some asparagus in there. Now it gets me wondering… why didn’t we buy any at the grocery store?
The burritos after 2:00am? Because this place by my house called the Burrito Palace #2 doesn’t have the greatest burritos…but after a few drinks they are pretty good. And we didn’t buy any asparagus because we didn’t have any money left over after the oatmeal cream pies, rice crispie treats, twinkies, sour gummy works, and rice cakes.
Haha so you don’t like the burritos but they are fine after a few drinks – awesome Kester.
Yea, I guess you are right about the fact that we did not have any money left over for something like Asparagus or Broccoli…
Wow it’s certainly hard to decide which foods..hmm..okay here goes…
(In no particular order):
10. Wild edibles (purslane, plantain mallow, dandelion, parsley etc)
9.Berries (all kinds)
8.Quinoa
7.Kale
6.Bacon
5.Butter
4.Wild Fish
3.Organic Grass Fed Beef
2.Walnuts
1. Eggs
Hmm..I think that’s the list…:)
Great list! It’s all primal with quinoa being the only iffy one. But, Mark has said its primal before because it is a seed. But, it is very high carb.
I’m gonna go with :
Eggs
Lettuce
Chicken
Avocado
Salmon
Tomatoes
Peppers
Some sort of aged cheese
Bacon!
Almonds
Welcome to my blog Bill!
I love the exclamation mark after bacon… I may do a count as to how many people did NOT include bacon… its not many I know that!!
Love the blog!
The following practically IS my diet anyway
1) Avocados
Berries
2) Eggs
3) Garlic (does the olive oil come free?)
4) Parsley (because of the garlic)
5) Quinoa (to put the parsley in)
6) Coconuts (for the water, meat, and oil)
7) Yogurt
9) Fish (if I had to choose, it would be Halibut)
10) Almonds
I would say:
offal – if i had to choose i would say liver beacuse of the vitamin content.
1) eggs
2) raw milk – including raw milk products such as cheese, cream and esp kefir.
3) Sour kruat
4) Bone Broths
5) beef
6) Coconut – especially coconut oil (need something for cooking on).
7) Spinach
9) cod liver oil
10) Apples – I’d need something sweet and crunchy otherwise I may lose it XD.
Offal on your top 10? Well, I may have to change mine up and add it too. When I made my list it was when I never tried liver – now I love it!
1. Cow (Steak!)
2. Chicken (can that include eggs?)
3. Pig (Bacon!)
4. Avocado
5. Tomatoes
6. Squash
7. Bananas
8. Carrots
9. Blueberries
10. Spinach
I enjoyed squash for the first time all year this past Sunday – it was delicious!
I can’t live without
1. Eggs
2. Bacon
3. Spinach
4. Zucchini
5. Coconut (ANYTHING, milk, cream, oil, flour, etc)
6. Almonds (or multiple amounts of other nuts)
7. Stevia (I am still a lover of sweets, so my coffee, tea or baked goods are still around at times)
I LOVE Greek Yogurt, but I eat it too fast and never have any sitting around.
Doc told me to lay off the chocolate for now as well as cheese, my ‘Leaky Gut Syndrome’ created a type of ‘bad reaction’ to these recently. It seems that too much of one type of food makes my body react to it like an intolerance/ allergy.
I miss chocolate!!!!
How much chocolate were you eating? I am very curious because I like it myself. But, I eat a lot of 100% cacao powder and cacao nibs – so no dairy. I grab a few dark chocolate chips daily too…
Ok…here goes.
1. Beef
2. Pork
3. Eggs
4. Heavy Whipping cream
5. Almonds
6. Onion
7. Asparagus
8. Blueberries
9. Butter
10. Fish
I consider myself almost paleo but can’t give up the dairy. That is about all I really eat. Never any grains, legumes or nightshades.
Fun game!
Many people who eat a primal/paleo diet still eat a little dairy… in fact I would say MOST eat some form of dairy – butter counts.
Hey as long as there are raspberries in the mix, I think I could handle that ;0)
1.) Macaroni and Cheese
2.) Mint chocolate Chip Ice Cream
3.) Pizza
4.) Watermelon
5.) Apples
6.) Buffalo Chicken Calzones
7.) Corn (also can be used for popcorn…duhhhh)
8.) Tacos/burritos
9.) Grilled Cheese (with ketchup and bacon)
10.) Mashed Potatoes
Not primal, at all… but a tasty list…
1. lamb, lamb fat = candy
2. dark greens, in the running: kale and collards
3. avocado
4. eggs (fried eggs + avocado = favorite breakfast)
5. coffee <— Yes, I am putting that there. I don't care if it is or isn't paleo … Allie likes her coffee and she's keepin' it.
Hmm, I only have a top 5. I think I could live on those, if I was able to get all my needed vitamins, minerals, and fat/protein/carbs from them everyday. (But, I don't think I can ..)
Hey Allie!
Where do you buy your lamb fat from? There isn’t much that can beat avocado and eggs!
this is really tough (10 is no where near enough)…I had to cheat a little by using some groupings…
1. Peanut Butter
2. Cheese
3. Organic Beef
4. Organic Pork
5. Nuts (top picks – walnuts, pecans, almonds)
6. Onions
7. Kale
8. Berries (top picks – blueberries, strawberries)
9. Red Peppers
10. Eggs
Nice list! You must NOT be primal… or are you but you just eat peanut butter still? That would be fine as I have even played with the idea of allowing peanut butter… but i will stick with almond butter as a great alternative.
You think 10 is hard? I am publishing almost the same exact post tomorrow but only 9 foods are allowed… my list is way different today and I am sure many others are too. And I have a lot more readers now so I thought why not do this fun game again?!
Pig
Cow
Eggs
Brussels sprouts
Spaghetti squash
Coconut
Almonds
Brussels sprouts
Raspberries
Coffee
Kale
I kept on wanted to list various things, forgetting that they all fall under category of “pig” (i.e. lard, bacon, pork belly, etc.). I do LOVE my meat. Coffee and eggs come in a close second, just for the sheer fact that I consume them everyday, without fail.
Milk
Cow (or Buffalo)
Deer
Eggs
Spinach
Blueberries
Yogurt
Almonds
Salmon
Tuna
